Is it the enjoyment? Or the competition?
What about the smell of the stadium or the excitement in the bar as fans convene for the big game? Don’t you love the moments and memories shared with your teammates? YOUR Club. Your Rivals. And you have to love watching your children play the game you love so dearly! But why do you love the Beautiful Game? What makes it so special to you?
Futbol. Calcio. Sepak Bola. Football. Soccer. Whatever you call it, IT is the most popular game on earth, by far, and nothing else is even close. Better yet, it’s the greatest game there is.
Soccer is beautiful to watch.
It bridges gaps between age, sex, race, class, countries and civilizations. It intersects politics, religion, culture and fashion. It is played on the world’s largest stages and in back alleys of crowded streets. It has not limitations, no boundaries. It has the ability to find people who have absolutely nothing in common and bring them together, even if only for a few hours at a time. Soccer can be so great, yet so frustrating at the same time. It can fulfill your dreams, as well as tear them down completely. Soccer gives people, countries, cultures and even entire continents hope of better days.
Soccer is a players game.
It contains coaches and managers at all levels teaching the beautiful art of the game from their perspective. However, once the whistle blows, it belongs to the imagination of the 22 players on the field. It creates legendary players, leaders…Heroes. Pele, Maradona, Puskas, Weah, Zidane, Cruyff, Beckham, Best, Messi, Ronaldo…the list goes on and on. Every player inspires a different person for different reason.
The list of reasons why soccer is so important to the world can go on and on. Each country, each culture sees the game in a different way. It means something unique and special to people in every corner of the world. However, what does it mean to you?
What makes soccer so special that you will never let it go, never stop watching, learning and playing the Beautiful Game?
