Jason Berry, ActionCoach and Convene Communities Business Coach, reverse the tables to interview Founder and CEO Matthew Currin. They take this moment to discuss all things Convene. People tend to ask the same questions, and during this podcast, Matthew Currin breaks down the madness. What are the communities? What is an ‘experience’? What are the key differentiators within the three types of groups? Listen to learn more and keep reading for a brief overview of the answer to some of your questions.
Convene Communities is a desktop application that allows people to take their passion and share it. On the application, members can communicate around specific topics and teach others based on their experience.
The Structure of Convene Communities
Macro communities are communities that are open to everyone. People can join communities of their choice to create their group within that community. For instance, soccer coaches, athletes, referees, etc., can join the Soccer Community to create content or share their thoughts based on others’ content.
Influencer communities are communities based upon a single individual or organization. For example Patty Mohler – Renew and Restore, Grayson Marshall Jr., or Wendy Zanders- Your Declutter Coach.
Anyone can join Convene Communities to create groups or interact within them. Users can create three types of groups: Free Public Groups, Private Groups, and Premiere Groups. The key difference between each group is the access that people have to enter the groups.
Three types of access to groups
- FREE: It is, of course, free to join and interact within the free groups.
- PRIVATE: You must request and be accepted to join a private group.
- PAID: And you have to pay the fee to enter a premier group.
So when you want to create a group, you should ask yourself these questions:
- Who are the people I am creating this group for?
- Do I want to sell courses, curriculum, or training in this group?
- Is there a prerequisite to join that determines who should be allowed into the group?
- What is my overall mission and purpose for this group?
As Matthew explains, the critical elements in creating engagement on the platform are groups. He further suggests how you may use the creation of groups to power your message as a professional speaker, author, industry leader, business (for training & collaborating), pastor or minister, and non-profit leaders. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you do, there is a place for you on Convene Communities because each of us has skills to teach others or ways of building communities of support to help one other. Such as the LIFE Community, the Parenting Community, and the Hope and Support Community.
