Brett is a perfect fit for leading Convene Military with his leadership experience in both the military as well as his civilian career. He has some great ideas on how this community can go in several positive directions such as:
- Direction and guidance for those leaving the military and finding themselves looking for a civilian job for the first time
- Advice on adjusting to civilian life
- Military spouse groups
- Support group for Vietnam Vets
- PTSD information and support
- and much more
Example Experiences available now in Convene Military
In the fall of 2006 I had served in the Marine Corps for over 13 years. The last thing that my wife or I could have imagine is leaving the Marine Corps early. Due to medical reasons I was informed that I was being medically retired on December 31st. What a way to bring in the new year. At the time I was a pilot flying the V-22 Osprey. I was lucky enough to transition into a civilian job staying in the V-22 program. I felt like life was going to be good moving forward.
When I interviewed for my first job about 2 months before my retirement I was both nervous and excited. Nervous because I had never worked at this level in any position prior to my active duty service and excited to start my post military career. My main dilemma, I didn’t know enough about money. It’s always uncomfortable to talk about salary and most companies have strick rules about sharing your salary with anyone, especially with fellow employees.
Convene Military is a web-based community where heroes who put their lives on the line to defend our freedom as Americans can interact with one another. This community will provide for a shared learning, allowing for veterans from all branches of service to share their experiences and learn from the experiences of others.
